  3.  Some non-obvious commands:
  4.  Change hooked drive:........... Number keys 1,2,3,,4,etc. for A:,B:,C:, etc.
  5.  Change un-hooked drive:........ <Alt> <1,2,3,etc> for A:,B:,C:,etc.
  6.  Change directory:.............. Place cursor in center window and press <CR>.
  7.  Change windows/hook:........... Use left and right arrow keys.
  8.  Scroll vertically:............. All cursor keypad functions supported.
  9.  File operations:............... Place cursor on filename and press <CR>.
  10.  File operations (direct):...... Place cursor on filename & press function key.
  11.  Open DOS function menu:........ Press <F1> or <Esc> or <+>.
  12.  Quickly find a file:........... Press 1st letter of name.  (depends on sort)
  13.  Quickly find a directory:...... Press 1st letter of name.

  15. * The <+> key is used as a second <Esc> key in most cases.

  17.  Mouse control:
  18.  Left button:...... Same as <CR> key.      *In view mode simulates <PgDn> key.
  19.  Right button:..... Same as <Esc> key in all modes.
  20.  Both buttons:..... Same as <Space bar>.  Hold for repeat action when marking.
  21.  Roll away:........ Same as <Up arrow> key.
  22.  Roll toward:...... Same as <Dn arrow> key.
  23.  Roll left:........ Same as <Lt arrow> key.  *In view mode acts as <PgUp>.
  24.  Roll right:....... Same as <Rt arrow> key.  *In view mode acts as <PgDn>.

  26.  Setup Program notes:
  27.       The user must define the various external utility programs before such
  28.  functions as edit and compression support will work.  Select F3 to run the
  29.  setup section.  If you need help defining your external files please refer
  30.  to the .DOC file.
  31.       For maximum display speed, turn BIOS screen writes off if possible.

  33. ***  A few notes from the author and the boys in the band here at M.R.E.  ***

  35.      Stereo Shell is intelligent menu driven.  What this means is that the
  36.  program analyses the file you have selected and opens the appropriate menu
  37.  for working with that file type.  One of our design goals was to make the
  38.  program so intuitive that little or no instruction would be required to
  39.  learn how to use it.  Even so, it is impossible to build such a capable
  40.  application without incorporating a few non-obvious commands.  The purpose
  41.  of this help file is to provide a quick reference for new users.  This is no
  42.  substitution for the detailed .DOC file, however, if we did our job
  43.  correctly, this file should be all that is required to get you started.
  44.      Stereo Shell uses twin (stereo) file windows to allow the user to work
  45.  between any two drives or directories simultaneously.  These file windows
  46.  share the center area of the screen to display their respective
  47.  sub-directory information and allow the user to switch directories on each
  48.  side.  At any time, only one window can show its sub-directory information
  49.  in this area.  Which brings up the question of which directory is showing.
  50.  The answer is derived from the actual screen graphics.  The sub-directory
  51.  window is always "hooked" graphically to its associated file window.  Thus
  52.  the term "hooked" will be used to refer to the current working side.  The
  53.  hooked side will always be the source of all file operations.  The un-hooked
  54.  side is the default destination of all file moves, and copies.  All DOS
  55.  commands that refer to making sub-directories etc. will always work on the
  56.  hooked side.  After a few minutes of working with STS this concept will
  57.  become "second nature" to you, however we feel all new concepts and terms
  58.  should be mentioned.
  59.      Stereo Shell is the program that copies 'em from anywhere to anywhere
  60.  (sort of like the phone company).  We at M.R.E. certainly hope that if you
  61.  will give this program a fair test you will never want to listen to that
  62.  bland ol' mono DOS again.  Go Hi-Fi man, support shareware today!
